Our History

Transforming homes for over 50 years

The unrivalled experience and knowledge at Terry’s Fabrics ensures that it always stocks the latest designs, at unbeatable prices, with the motto “Transform your home for less!” The team offers specialist advice in store to assist you in purchasing your curtains and blinds and they will measure, make and fit your curtains and blinds in your home if required. Even though Terry’s has grown over the years, it’s the same friendly and personal service that was in the heart of Terry’s market stalls 50 years ago

When you grandparent, parents, aunties and uncles stood the markets stalls

it’s no wonder at the age of 16 Terry started his working life there too. If you bought curtains from Congleton, Leek, Sandbach, Crewe or Newcastle markets in the 1970’s or 80’s you may have bought them from Terry. His passion for business was inherited from his father, Rupert Baskeyfield who ran several market stalls in Tunstall, Hanley and Longton markets trading as ‘Ruperts Stall’.

It was in 1996 that Terry took his biggest business leap, purchasing an old Seven Trent Water Site in Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent. The site was transformed into a purpose-built fabric warehouse complete with curtain making workshop, Terry’s Fabrics, where he offered the same, quality service that had been at the heart of his market stalls for the last three decades.

Now in their 50th year, Terry’s Fabrics has gone from strength to strength stocking thousands metres of fabrics, curtains, blinds, cushions and much more in its warehouse at all times. The principle remains the same — offer a fantastic range of discount fabrics, with the same friendly and personal service that has seen them earn numerous nominations for the Fabric Retailer of the Year award.
